Jean Colin (1881-1961) is a largely unknown Brussels painter to this day because he primarily worked in a realistic style. Art that easily found buyers at the time is now out of fashion and no longer appreciated by seasoned art lovers. However, Colin also left behind a masterful impressionist oeuvre, none of which has ever been exhibited posthumously. Colin painted these works for his own pleasure, aware that his conservative clientele was not ready for them. After the painter's death, most of these works were distributed among the many relatives of his wife or ended up in museum basements. This "tribute" tells the incredible story of Jean Colin and his "hidden masterpieces."
