With her great cycles of graphic works Ein Weberaufstand (A Weaver’s Revolt) and Bauernkrieg (The Peasants’ War), Kollwitz demonstrated her remarkable skills as a graphic artist at an early age. Her fame as an artist grew steadily and she eventually became the first woman appointed professor by the Prussian Academy of Arts in 1919.
